Burmese Cat Club Show June 2010
A special thank you to Linda and
the team for looking after me so well and for the well organised day.
It’s a particular pleasure to be invited to judge at our breed
show and this being my first time it will always be a day to remember
and not least because of the many fabulous Burmese I had the pleasure
of handling. Thank you Jan for stepping in to fill my ‘steward
vacuum’ in the afternoon with the grown up cats, having already
acted as Peter’s steward all morning.
LILAC BURMESE KITTEN (UNDER 6
MONTHS)
1st & BOB Lorton-Hobbs
AUREUS DINAH MITE (27c) F 18.1.10
At almost 6 months this kitten has
already learnt to calmly pose with confidence and style. She has really
excellent width across the top of her head and at her cheeks tapering
to a fairly short broad blunt muzzle giving her overall a super Burmese
wedge shape. She has lovely rounding in all directions over the top of
her head and brow. In profile she has good depth to her head and a
fairly good nose break, straight short nose ending level with her
medium depth chin. She has a tidy level bite. She has appropriate
kitten sized medium/large ears, broad at their base and with rounded
tips. They are set beautifully so their outline follows the outer line
of wedge. She has glorious large lustrous eyes with a sultry Burmese
expression when relaxed. They are correctly shaped with a slanting and
slightly curved top line and full rounded lower line. Their colour
still developing, has promising golden yellow tones to the outer iris.
She is an excellent weight and size for her age, well grown and yet
still elegantly proportioned and already feeling well muscled and firm.
She has elegant limbs, oval paws, a rounded chest and straight back.
Her tail is medium thick at its base and gently tapers to a rounded tip
with enough length to balance her body. Her coat is still developing
from kitten-hood, but lies well, is medium in length and a little
plush down her tail at present. It is a pretty pale lilac with warmth
and hints a pinky tones developing. Excellent condition and lovely to
handle.

(27c) F 13.2.10
A younger kitten who was alert and
desperate to play with us, in fact happier out of the pen than in! She
has a short wedge with fairly good width at the cheeks tapering to a
fairly blunt muzzle. She has lovely rounding over the top of her head
and brow. In profile she has good depth to her head, a good nose break
and a short nose, just showing a slight curve to it at present. She has
a medium depth chin which lines up neatly with the end of her nose. Her
ears, unusually, are on the small side of medium, especially for a
kitten, and she tended to hold them a little high today. She has
appropriately large sized eyes, with a curved top line and more
fullness to the lower line but I’d prefer to see a little more
difference between the two. Their colour is still developing, with
promising yellow tones evident. She is a good size and weight for her
age, feeling firm and toned. She has a lovely elegant body, rounded
chest and straight back, proportional elegant legs and dainty oval
paws. Her tail has appropriate length, is medium thick at the base and
tapers gently to a rounded tip. She has a kitten plush coat, soft
textured and slightly long at present. It is warm toned pinky lilac in
colour.
LILAC BURMESE KITTEN (OVER 6 MONTHS)

FANTASIA (27c) F 25.10.09
An 8 month old young lady, with a
lovely gentle and easy nature. She has a short wedge with fairly good
width at the cheeks tapering to a fairly good blunt muzzle. She has
lovely rounding over the top of her head and brow, a fairly good nose
break and short straight nose. She has a medium depth chin which lines
up perfectly with her nose. Her bite is neat and correct. She has
medium/large ears, which, she tended to hold a fraction high today.
They are wide at the base and rounded at the tip, with the desired
slight tilt forward in profile. Her eyes are of a good size and shape;
attractive large yellow chartreuse and with a slightly curved top line,
slanting towards her nose and fuller lower line, giving her a gentle
Burmese expression. She is well grown for her age with an adolescent,
lithe structure, with a rounded chest, straight back, slender limbs and
tidy oval paws. Her tail is medium thick at the base and tapers
slightly to a rounded tip, appropriate in length to balance. She has
silky textured coat, medium in length which lies well. In the hall
lighting she appears to have a slightly darker and cooler toned lilac
than I’d prefer. In super condition and she was a pleasure to
handle.
RED BURMESE KITTEN (OVER 6 MONTHS)
1st & BOB Sizer’s
MINITOSA CALEB (27d) MN 25.11.09
A 7 months old; this smashing lad
oozes health and vitality and is a very enjoyable arm full to cuddle.
He has a reasonably short wedge with very good width at his cheeks
which tapered to a fairly blunt muzzle. He has lovely rounding over the
top of his head and over his brow. He has a fairly good nose break
followed by a fairly short nose which has a slight curve to it in
profile, rolling off at the tip. His chin is slightly shallow, just
about level, and his bite is correct. He has good width between medium
sized ears which are very well set, their outer-line continuing the
outline of his wedge. They are broad at the base and rounded at tip
with an appropriate slight tilt forward when viewed in profile. He has
reasonably large chartreuse eyes, with a top line that curves gently,
slanting towards his nose but I’d prefer a little more fullness
to the lower line. He has a fabulous body, lithe and muscular, a very
good weight and size for his age, strong rounded chest and straight
back. His legs are strong yet elegant and finished with oval paws and
his tail is well shaped with plenty of length to balance his body. His
coat has a fine satin texture, a fairly short length and lies sleekly
with a lovely sheen. It is an attractive bright tangerine, paling over
his sides and tummy. He has a few smudges on his front and back legs
and a broken necklace.
2nd Badrick’s MINITOSA
EPHRAIM (27d) MN 25.11.09
Another 7 month old, same date of
birth and with a definite family resemblance! This young lad, was
similarly bursting with health and vitality and with a gorgeous easy
temperament, he is obviously used to being adored at home. He has a
reasonably short wedge with good width at his cheeks which tapered to a
fairly blunt muzzle which appears a fraction pinched today. His top of
head shows gentle rounding as does his brow. His nose is reasonably
short, has a slight curve and roll off but he is lacking in nose break
today. His chin is slightly shallow and slightly set back and he has a
level bite. His medium sized ears are well set, the outer-line
continuing the outline of his upper wedge. They are broad at the base
and rounded at tip with a slight tilt forward in profile. He has
reasonably large eyes, chartreuse in colour and reasonably well shaped
with a gently curved top line slanting towards his nose and a rounder
lower line which would benefit from being fuller. He has well grown
body, lovely firm toned feel, and a very good weight for his age. He
has a strong rounded chest and straight back proportional strong and
slender legs and oval paws. His tail is medium thick at the base
tapering to a rounded tip, of appropriate length, just feeling slightly
stiff at its tip. His coat has a good texture, although not as fine as
the winner, it is reasonably short in length and lies well. It is a
slightly darker tangerine, paling over his side and tummy with rather
more noticeable markings; faint bars on inner and outer side of his
front legs and on the outer side across is knees on his back legs,
smudges on his tummy and a broken necklace. His super condition
is a credit to his owner.
BROWN TORTIE BURMESE KITTEN (UNDER
6 MONTHS)
1st & BOB Williams’
KATSPELL MISS DEARHEART (27e) F 20.3.10
A wee brown tortie baby at her
first show, what a little sweetheart. She has promising type with a
lovely short wide wedge tapering to a good blunt finish. Lovely
rounding between wide set ears, and rounding over her brow. In profile
she has quite good depth to her head, a fairly good nose break
short-ish nose which rolls off. Her chin is medium in depth and sits
just slightly set back from level at the moment. She has a neat level
bite. Medium/large sized kitten ears, broad based and rounded tips, set
with a slight tilt forward in profile and well spaced apart on her
head. Her large eyes are still changing colour and are muddy kaki at
present which bodes well. They are well shaped with a good gentle curve
to the top line which slants towards her nose and a full rounded shape
to the lower line giving her a good Burmese expression. Her baby
proportions are appropriate for her age, she has good weight with a
well fed tum and feels lovely and firm to handle. She has slender legs
and dainty oval paws. He tail is medium thick at the base, tapers
gently to a rounded tip and is perhaps a fraction short. Her kitten
coat is fine and soft in texture, fairly short, a mix of soft brown and
bright red with very attractive facial markings, free from bars. So
well behaved and calm on her big day out too. Congratulations.

A very handsome young red boy who
was finding the show experience rather overwhelming today. I really
liked his head type with his short and wide wedge, very good width at
the cheeks and between his ears tapering to a blunt muzzle. His profile
shows he has good depth to his head and a good definite nose break,
followed by a fairly short and straight nose, a level chin of
reasonable depth. His bite is correct. His medium sized ears are very
well set, enhancing his wedge shape, wide at their base, rounded tips
with a slight forward tilt in profile. He has large lustrous golden
toned yellow eyes which are set well apart with a Burmese lovely
expression. The lower line is rounded and fuller whilst the top line
curves gently and slants towards his nose. His medium sized body is
developing muscularity, feeling firm and strong, he has slender limbs
and oval paws and his tail which could do with having a fraction more
length is well shaped medium thick and tapering to a rounded tip. His
coat gleamed with condition, with a super fine satin texture, medium
length, and close lying. It is an attractive bright tangerine in colour
paling over his sides and tum. He has just faint smudges on his inside
front legs and a faint broken necklace.

I just love this lady’s broad
wedge and sultry Burmese expression and what purrsonality too, she drew
a crowd of admirers as she purred in my arms. Her wedge is short with
excellent width across the cheeks and over the top of her head between
her ears, tapering to a broad blunt muzzle. She has gentle rounding
over the top of her head and over her brow. In profile she has lovely
depth to her head a well defined nose break followed by a fairly
straight short nose and lovely firm level chin of good depth. Her bite
is a little untidy but level. Her ears have excellent set, providing a
continuation of out-line up from her broad wedge. They are medium in
size, broad at the base and rounded tips with an appropriate slight
tilt forward in profile. Glorious eyes; large and lustrous, yellow
chartreuse, slightly curved top line angled towards her nose and
excellent fullness to the rounded lower line with a melting seductive
expression. She is a substantially proportioned lady, feeling muscular
and weighty with a medium length body, with a tum that I suspect has
seen some kitten action in bygone years. She has elegant legs, oval
paws and a medium thick tail tapering to a rounded tip which balances
her body. Her coat is sleek glossy and fine textured, fairly short in
length, although a little bare on her tum. It is a warm toned seal
brown in colour, with a just a sprinkling of white hairs over her
shoulders. Super condition and just adorable to handle. Congratulations.

At over 10 years, this veteran
lady, just a little grumpy towards the end of a long day also really
caught my eye. She too has a super broad blunt wedge with excellent
width across the top of her head and cheeks, tapering seamlessly to a
broad blunt muzzle which I was particularly taken with. She has slight
rounding between her ears and over her brow, good depth to her head, a
good nose break, straight short nose and level chin of good depth. Her
medium sized ears are set wide apart, so that their outer line is a
continuation of her wide wedge enhancing it perfectly. They are broad
at the base and rounded at the tip, and slightly tilted forward in
profile. She has attractive large lustrous eyes, pale chartreuse in
colour. The top line of her eye being straighter, slants towards her
nose and the lower line is full and rounded. Her body is a medium in
size, with a very good weighty feel and firm tone. Her chest is rounded
and her back straight from shoulder to rump. She has slender elegant
legs and neat oval paws and a medium thick tail tapering to a rounded
tip which balances her body. Her coat is a lovely mix of soft mid blue
and pale cream, fine satin textured, medium length and lies well to
give a sleek finish. A lady in excellent condition and well deserving
of high awards.

And the quality just keeps coming!
This impressive chocolate tortie exhibit looks so remarkably youthful
for her 12 years I had to double check her DOB. She has a super short
wedge with good width at the cheeks tapering to a neat blunt muzzle.
She has slight rounding to the top of her head, and brow. In profile
she has quite good depth to her head, a strong distinct nose break,
followed by a short straight nose, just rolling off at the very tip,
level medium depth chin and level bite. Her ears are well set, medium
in size, broad at the base and rounded tips with slight tilt forward in
profile Her super expressive eyes, large and lustrous and chartreuse in
colour stop you in your tracks. Lovely rounded lower eye line and
gentle curved top line with a slant toward her nose. She has a tidy
compact body, with smaller sized medium frame, youthful, well toned and
firm (what’s her secret?), rounded chest and straight back. Her
slender legs finish with small neat oval paws. She has a medium thick
base to her tail tapering slightly to a rounded tip and is perhaps a
fraction short to balance. Her coat is fine and soft in texture, fairly
short and lies well. She has lovely warm tones in her coat which is a
mix of chocolate and splashes with rosy warm reds. Outstanding
condition a credit to the breed as well as her owner and breeder
congratulations.

A very handsome star. His head has
a good short wedge, very good width at the cheeks and over the top of
his head which tapers smoothly to a blunt muzzle. He has gentle
rounding over his top and over his brow with good depth to his head. He
has a lovely tidy profile with a well defined nose break, a short
straight nose, level chin which has good depth. His bite is level. He
has medium sized ears, quite widely set on his broad head, with rounded
tips, and a slight tilt forward in profile. He has large eyes with a
rounded lower line and straighter top curve slanting towards his nose,
chartreuse in colour with a lovely Burmese expression. He has a
medium length body, muscular with a strong rounded chest, a straight
back, strong elegant legs and oval paws. His tail just about balances,
medium thick at its base and gently tapers to a rounded tip. His coat
is gleaming today, with a fine smooth satin texture, a good short
length and a lovely even warm toned chocolate. Shown in excellent
condition he has a charming temperament and he has that extra sparkle
to him today that just inched him into 2nd place against very strong
competition.

Another very impressive exhibit.
Excellent width to his short wedge, with broad blunt muzzle to finish
and slight rounding over top and brow. In profile he has good depth to
his head, good break, straight nose, level chin of fairly good depth.
He has medium sized ears, wide at the base & round at the tips, set
well with good width between them in keeping with his wedge shape. He
has large lustrous eyes, a pleasing yellow chartreuse, well shaped with
fuller rounded lower line and straighter top line that slants towards
his nose. He has a rather overly substantial body, with a little too
much in the tummy region! He has strong limbs and oval paws, slightly
thick and slightly short tail. Lovely rich warm toned chocolate coat,
just slightly darker in the mask. It has a fine silky texture, just a
fraction long, but sleek and close lying. Super temperament calm and
composed.

short nose with a slight curve to it and rolling off at the tip and a
level chin of medium depth. She has medium sized ears, broad at the

wedge shape. She has good sized eyes of yellow chartreuse with a gentle
curve to the top eye line angled towards her nose and a rounder lower
line which I’d prefer to have a little more fullness. She has a
lovely well grown strong body structure, firm and muscular and heavier
than you’d expect. She has a strong rounded chest and straight
back from shoulder to rump with elegant limbs and oval paws. Her tail
is well shaped and of good length to balance. She has a fine satin

good overall type. She has a fairly short wedge, with fairly good width
at the cheeks tapering to a broad blunt muzzle, with a slight pinch
giving a slight boxy muzzle appearance today. She has gentle rounding
over the top of her head and brow. In profile she has a very strong
nose break and reasonably short and straight nose. She has a level,
medium depth chin, and level bite. Her medium sized ears are broad at
the base and rounded at the tips and set with a slight tilt forward in
profile. Set so that their outer line continues the line of her upper
wedge. She has large chartreuse eyes which she tended to round out of
her pen but when settled relaxed to a gentle curve to the top eye line
slanting towards her nose and a rounded lower line. She is firm and
muscular with a medium sized elegant body shape, and slender legs and
neat oval paws. Her tail is medium thick at the base and gently tapers
to a rounded tip just a fraction short to balance. Her coat has a

rich tangerine colour, paling over the sides and minimal faint

A darling little baby chocy tortie,
only just old enough to be out and about but totally at ease with the
day’s events. She has a promising fairly short wide wedge,
finished with a blunt muzzle, showing just a fraction of a pinch today.
She has good depth to her head, lovely rounding to the top of her head
and over her brow. In profile she has a short nose which rolls off at
its end, a chin of good depth which is fractionally set back and a
correct level bite. She has medium-large ears, appropriately sized for
a kitten, which have a lovely wide set, their outer line seen as a
continuation of her wedge. Her eye colour is still developing and
size-wise could be a fraction larger. They are well shaped with a
gently curved top line angled towards her nose and a fuller rounded
lower line. She has a lovely firm kitten body, good weight for her size
and age, sturdy slender legs and dainty oval paws. She has a correctly
shaped tail of good length to balance her body length. She still has a
baby soft kitten coat, fairly short and an attractive mix of pale
chocolate and pale shades of red at present. A very promising baby.

profile her ears are broad at the base, rounded at tip and show a

depth and her bite is correct. Her ears, are a larger medium size, well
set so as to continue the outline of her wedge. She has large lustrous,
chartreuse eyes, set well apart and with a good rounding to the lower

developing towards adulthood. She has a good short wedge with good
width at the cheeks over the top of her head, and just looking slightly
fine in the muzzle at the moment. Her top of head is gently rounded as

medium/large ears, which are very wide at their base, rounded tips with

outer line continues the outer line of her wedge. Her yellow chartreuse
eyes have a lovely expression, set well apart and of good shape with
rounded lower line and a straighter curved top line that slants towards

weight for her age. She has a rounded chest and straight back, slender
